Nate Wilson This entire album has a real southwest, western feel to it. The brass truly compliments the often haunting guitar melodies. This song in particular, not only being the first track, ended up being, in my opinion, the best. Favorite track: The Dawn Thief.
Michael Reilly

Michael Reilly The immersive scale of this superb album mirrors the impressive landscape it represents – a region of unique flora, grand vistas, and natural beauty. There's so much to explore in these great compositions – expect to get seriously (and very happily) lost in the process. Favorite track: El Pistolero.

Martin S K An album that takes you through an entire continent. The songs paint pictures of landscapes, highways, mountains, deserts and everything in between and they all tell their own story. A story of you, the traveler in this vast country.

This is fantastic from start to finish. This empowers you, frightens you, saddens you and soothes you. The use of the trumpet is brilliant and really gives this album a special feel to it. The whole thing is a breath of fresh air and a force to be reckoned with. Favorite track: I Shall Sail No More (No More Shall I Sail).

Miguel González Although I've never been in the Madrean, this music is tremendously evocative to me. Surprising and unexpected the addition of the trumpet. Of great beauty, this is one of those albums that make you remember why music is worth listening to. Favorite track: The Dawn Thief.

Join the journey of The Madrean, a collection of eight thematically linked compositions paying homage to the Madrean region of North America, the arid landmass spanning the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. With band members having spent their respective formative years in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and California, the Madrean Region is an inescapable internal and external space for Whale Fall, and the intersection of its urban and natural environs—from L.A. freeway overpasses to majestic Sierra peaks—serve as both the backdrop and the foreground of the music of The Madrean as well as the accompanying visual imagery.
Download includes digital version of the vinyl LP booklet art (created by Emmy-award winning designer Jordan W. Lee) which features eight pieces of original artwork, each representing a track and region of The Madrean.

about

Whale Fall Los Angeles, California

Whale Fall: the interplay between Ali Vazin's ethereal guitar swells and Dave Pomeranz's raw six-string tones suggests the vast desert sky overhanging stark and rugged terrain, with J-Matt Greenberg's trumpet and keyboard flourishes providing the flora and fauna, all supported by the tectonic framework and desert highways of Erik Tokle's gliding bass and Aaron Farinelli's foundational percussion. ... more
